To begin to understand info about Forex market and forex indicators, a few basic ideas and definitions are necessary.

Currency Pair refers to the two currencies that can be used in Buy or Sell transactions. EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDCHF, and USDJPY are the most traded currency pairs (and forex indicators) in Forex. The currency that is written first in the pair is called the base currency. The quote currency always goes second.

The Currency Quote shows the value of the base currency expressed in the quote currency. There are 2 prices – Bid and Ask – for each currency quote.

  • Bid price - he price at which a forex trader sells the base currency.
  • Ask price - the price at which a forex trader buys the base currency.

The US dollar can be both the base and quote currency. If the dollar (as a forex indicator) is the base currency, then this quote is called a “direct” quote, if the dollar is the quote currency, then it is called an “indirect” quote. There can also be cross pairs – currency pairs that don’t involve the US dollar (for example, EURJPY, EURCHF, GBPJPY, EURGBP).

There's something important about forex trading and forex indicators: The difference between the Bid and Ask prices is called the “spread”.

For example, USDCHF 1,0756/1,0758 means that at this particular moment a trader can buy  one dollar for 1,0758 Swiss francs and sell one dollar for 1,0756 Swiss francs. The spread will be 2 pips.

A Pip is the minimum price change. If the last digit in a quote changes for 1 unit, the price changes for 1 pip. In the currency pairs that involve, for example, USD, EUR, GBP, 1 pip is equal to 0.0001. In the currency pairs that involve JPY, a pip is equal to 0.01.

Besides other forex indicators, LiteForex offers its clients leverage, giving a trader the possibility to operate with sums that can be 100 times bigger than their deposit. and can give any educational information about forex trading. This kind of trade is called a “marginal trade”. In Forex, people trade in lots – 1 lot is equal to $100,000.

On the LiteForex official web-site you can find tools and formulas for calculating pip value, lot size, transaction volume, and leverage amount.
